What We Do

Policy & Research ACTIVATION

We’re working on new ways to develop policy that include all voices, engage communities and develop leaders — while tackling the pressing issues of the day. Our areas of focus include:

  • Rebuilding the Public Square: We’re tackling the growing concerns about how social media is affecting democracy by examining what is driving Canada apart online and how we can bring people back together.

  • Driving Action on Climate Change: We’re finding effective ways to talk about climate change and urge people and communities to take action to fight it.

  • Revolutionizing Education: We’re testing and sharing new approaches to education and skills training that connect to marginalized communities and stay ahead of the disruption technology is creating in the labour market.

Leadership Development

We’re developing leaders with the advanced skills, understanding and knowledge needed to develop effective policy solutions to today’s challenges. We do this through:

CIVIC CONVENING

We’re convening important public conversations to build awareness and help bring about the changes our institutions and society need. We do this through:

  • Our Visiting Global Fellows are world-leading practitioners who engage with key audiences during short, intensive stays at the Lab.

  • Conferences and events that put projects and ideas in front of influencers and decision-makers.
